The Kyma International Sound Symposium 2013 was held from 12 – 15 September in Brussels this year. It was a remarkable gathering of like and unlike minds from around the world of artists that use the Kyma System.
Scott Miller and I had been sending a Kyma timeline, which is a digital composition, back and forth in a collaborative effort to develop the piece since we had met up in Minnesota in July. The piece, This Strange Fine-Tuning of our Universe, was premiered on Friday the 13th and went really well. I’m looking forward to the next and the next and the next times we get to perform it.
The next morning Shackle presented our work for the symposium and played in the evening concert. We were a hit!
And the concert that evening was quite an experience with Annette Vande Gorne active on the mixer as our personal live spatial expert.
I was particularly touched to see the inventors of the Kyma System, Carla Scaletti and Kurt Hebel, in action. Real heroes.
